Critical illness insurance

Critical Illness insurance gives the option to go to another country to take treatment. The modification of your home to accommodate a wheel chair and medications used to fight the side affects of cancer treatments are only a few of the expenses that may not be covered by the provincial heath care plan. When I ask my clients how they would fund these types of expenses, many feel they would just dip into their savings accounts.

Critical illness insurance covers you for expenses incurred for covered illnesses, allowing you to maintain your financial stability and focus on your health and recovery. You are free to use benefits as you see fit to:

* Pay for medication or health care not covered by provincial medicare plans.

* Have access to new medical treatment or experimental drugs.

* Obtain home health care and services (housekeeping, meal preparation, basic hygiene).

* Allow your spouse to take time off work to be with you.

* Cover transportation and accommodation costs for residents living far from cities or for treatments obtained in other regions.

* Pay certain health professional fees (occupational therapist, osteopath, chiropractor, speech therapist, etc.).

* Adapt your home or vehicle.
